24-Hour Tire Roll Brings Attention to State Budget Shenanigans

 On Feb. 28 and March 1, some 30 volunteers from CRBI and other Georgia Water Coalition member organizations pushed a giant tire around the Georgia State Capitol building for 24 straight hours to bring attention to HR 158, a measure that will create a constitutional amendment allowing legislators to “dedicate” fees when they create laws establishing fees or taxes on Georgia citizens. Pollution and EPD Delays in Cleaning It Up Land Coosa River on Dirty Dozen Report

Two Coosa River issues were highlighted in the Georgia Water Coalition’s annual Dirty Dozen report, a report highlighting the 12 worst offenses to Georgia’s water. Released Nov. 14, the report details the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to delay implementing rules eliminating toxic discharges into our rivers from coal-fired power plants.
